Privacy Policy

What we collect, who receives it, how long we keep it, and how to opt out, delete or correct it. Covers quote requests, cookies and session recordings.

What this policy covers

This policy covers what Investing and Retirement Media LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, does with information about people who use investingandretirement.com and our subdomains. That includes the reviews, guides, calculators, quizzes, quote and offer pages, the senior care pages, the newsletter and every form on them.

We are a publisher. We are not an insurer, agent, broker or lender, and we do not decide whether you qualify for anything. The companies we work with decide that. What they do with your information once they have it is covered by their own privacy policies, not this one.

Reading the site does not give the consent in the calls and texts section below. Giving a phone number with a request does, and so does pressing a button or ticking a box next to wording that asks for it. If you submit a request for quotes or an offer, our Terms of Use apply to it too.

The short version

Notice at Collection

This section lists what we collect, why, who receives it, whether it is sold or shared, and how long we keep it. Many state laws call this a notice at collection. The full policy on this page has the detail.

Cookies, recording and Global Privacy Control

Analytics, advertising and session-recording tools run on our pages. Two of them, Microsoft Clarity and OGTool, record how people use our pages as replays, and OGTool also copies entries from some forms when you submit them, even if the form then refuses to send them. ActiveProspect's TrustedForm script starts when the consent box appears on our car insurance results, including the quote pop-up opened from our car insurance and guide pages, and keeps recording until you leave or reload the page. It records how you use the page, including what you type except fields we mark as sensitive (name, email, phone, date of birth and street address), and keeps that record as a certificate that proves you gave consent. It does not run when your browser sends Global Privacy Control. We cannot promise that what you type, or what appears on screen, is hidden from a recording. The site does not show a cookie banner and nothing waits for your permission, so your browser is the control: block third-party cookies, clear the site's data, or use a tracker-blocking extension.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, the visitor identification script does not run, the TrustedForm proof-of-consent script on our car insurance results and quote pop-up does not run, and we stop attaching our own visitor ID to session recordings, and our car and home insurance results pages do not send your answers to QuinStreet. Nothing else changes: the other tags still run.

On our car and home insurance results pages we send the answers you gave in the short form, your ZIP code, your IP address and your browser type to QuinStreet, and to other comparison partners, to show you matching offers. Global Privacy Control stops that for QuinStreet.

Calls and Text Messages (TCPA Consent)

You expressly consent to receiving calls and messages, including auto-dialed and pre-recorded message calls, and SMS messages (including text messages), from the insurance companies, agents and other companies we work with, and from others calling at their request or on their behalf, at any telephone numbers that you have provided or may provide in the future (including any cellular telephone numbers). Your cellular or mobile telephone provider will charge you according to the type of plan you carry.

These calls and messages come from those companies, or from others calling for them, and not from us. We do not send text messages ourselves. Agreeing to calls and texts is not a condition of using this site or of buying anything. You can withdraw your consent at any time, in any reasonable way: reply STOP to a text message, tell the caller to stop calling, or email or write to us. Telling the company directly is the fastest and surest route, because it holds your number and controls its own calls, and we do not. We cannot promise that our message will stop a company's calls. TCPA is short for the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the federal law on calls and texts.

Your rights and how to ask

If you live in California or in another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may be able to ask to know what we hold, to know which specific companies received your information, to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising, to limit our use of sensitive personal information, and to appeal a decision. We handle these requests the same way for anyone in the United States who makes them, and we do not treat you worse for using them.

Today an opt-out does two things: we delete any visitor identification profile we hold under your email address or phone number and do not use it, and we reply to confirm. It does not switch off the advertising and measurement tags for one person, it is not remembered on a later visit, and it does not stop the request our server makes to the supplier of an offer panel when a page loads. If you opt out and then ask for quotes, we treat that as your choice to send the request. For the tags, use your browser's controls.

Deleting removes the records we hold that we can match to you. It does not reach copies held by other companies, such as the companies we sent your request to, advertising and measurement platforms, recording tools and the identification provider, and we cannot delete from backups.

We act on opt-outs within 15 business days and reply when it is done. We respond to other requests within 45 days. Email Help@investingandretirement.com or write to Investing and Retirement Media LLC, 2810 N Church St, Num 162106, Wilmington, DE 19802. A person reads both. For an opt-out you do not need an account, and we do not ask who you are or why.

Children, who the site is for, and changes

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. We run the site from the United States and it is meant for people in the United States. We may update this policy. When we do, we change the Last Updated date, and if a change is material we say so in a note at the top of the page.

The full policy on this page covers each of these in more detail, including the tools that run on our pages, how long we keep each kind of information, and your rights in California and other states. See also our Terms of Use, Disclosures and contact page.
