Happy Money Review

Credit card payoff loans funded by credit unions, where the origination fee runs to 12% and the headline rate is well below the published one.

By Michael Hewitt, Founder & Editor-in-Chief. Rates last checked September 11, 2026.

Our verdict

Happy Money's card-payoff loans take a 2% to 12% origination fee off the top, $2,400 on a $20,000 loan, and published APRs run 8.95% to 35.99%, not the advertised 5.99% to 24.99%. Take one only if you can accept that fee. None of its 358 CFPB complaints closed with monetary relief, which keeps the grade low.

Skip it if up to 12% off the top is too much, or you won't join a credit union if required.
