UWM (United Wholesale) Review

Wholesale lender offering broker-exclusive rates often below retail. Independent UWM (United Wholesale) review: 4.3/5 for purchase mortgage.

By Michael Hewitt, Founder & Editor-in-Chief.

Our verdict

UWM rewards rate shoppers willing to use a middleman: rates typically run 0.125% to 0.25% below retail lenders, but you can only reach it through a mortgage broker. Fees vary by broker, and so does the experience, which is what keeps it from ranking higher. Choose the broker as carefully as the rate.

Skip it if you want to apply directly with the lender, or if you don't want to vet a broker.
