Ally Spending Account Review

Interest-earning checking from a leading online bank. Independent Ally Spending Account review: 4.4/5 for checking.

By Michael Hewitt, Founder & Editor-in-Chief. Rates last checked September 29, 2026.

Our verdict

If you bank online and want live help around the clock, Ally's Spending Account has no monthly maintenance or overdraft fees and 75,000+ no-fee ATMs. The interest is modest, 0.10% APY under $15K and 0.25% from $15K up. What keeps it from the top is that cash goes in only at retailers such as Walmart, not at ATMs.

Skip it if you deposit cash often and want to do it at an ATM or branch.
